So Sleigh Bells ooped up the alley that Yeasayer proceeded to slam all over First Ave last night, holy science did both of them slay. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more awesome show, both bands did nothing but impress (and the crowd was great too). Yeasayer played everything I wanted to hear, and even ended their much appreciated encore with the brilliant Red Cave (while not neglecting Tight Rope and other gems). Man, I wish every show was this much fun.
April 2010
Voxtrot has broken up and I’m absolutely crushed. Voxtrot has been my de facto favorite indie pop/twee band since I heard of them back in 2006. Their entire discography is brilliant, especially their harder to find b-sides and early releases. Here’s my favorite Voxtrot track. I hope they perform a Jesuslike resurrection, and return from the grave soon.
Wow, I don’t think I’d wear this. But I’d definitely high five someone who did.
Witchhouse/drag/dubchillwave whatever has taken over my April, I swear. I can’t stop listening to bands like oOoOO (my favorite of the genre), White Ring, Salem (to a much lesser extent), and now this guy. Give it a go.
Balam Acab - See Birds
Dirty Version - I Just Can’t Wait Any Longer EP - Voxtrot
My go to sleep potion as of late. I kind of wish Voxtrot brought Jennifer Moore back.. Anyways, I hear they might release a second LP this year! Their self-titled debut LP was slightly disappointing, only by considering how masterful those first few EPs were. Still, I’m optimistic. Voxtrot remains to be one of the kingpins of indie pop, and their b-sides and EPs should be investigated by all.
